Beijing-based online and mobile phone payment provider 99Bill has announced it will provide Internet payment services for Chinese home appliance retailer, Gome. According to the agreement, 99Bill accountholders will be able to pay for Gome products with credit cards and debit cards via the Internet and through their mobile phones. "The online payment service will not only add a new option for customers to purchase home appliances, but also allow Gome to centrally manage all online transactions across 40 cities," a 99Bill spokesperson tells CardLine Asia-Pacific. "Buyers have to apply for a 99Bill account before they can use the payment service," the spokesperson says.

According to the spokesperson, this is the first time Gome has used a third-party payment service provider, however, Gome previously cooperated with China Unionpay to allow customers to make online payments through China Unionpay-branded payment cards. 99Bill Corp. says it has 14 million customer accounts. Last month, the company announced it would provide online payment services to Chinese online gaming operator Ourgame.
